Wine & cheese & fighting the Republican party's image

John McCain did his strut, his walk, and his talk at the RNC convention in Minneapolis whilst outside the St Paul police took prisoners among the protesters. McCain is fighting his own party's record of the last, miserable 8 years under the most failed Herr Bush presidency. As the corporation lobbies threw lavish parties the 'small town' , 'small minded' Republicans hip hopped away sipping champagne and filling large pauches with cheese and other cocktail fare. As the reinvented big bag of wind put it, a military hero doesn't make for a good president nor bestow on him the halo of God's choice from on high. True, but McCain is striving to put a sorry party past behind him and woo the majority of American voters who are on the borderline of poverty, have little or no healthcare coverage, have a foreclosure sign on their property, whose children are being left behind in quantities unimmaginable since the reign of Harding, Coolidge, & Hoover...all 3 Republican presidents. McCain will play on his war record and his image as a maverick, which are wearing thin as rice paper. On Iraq, the surge is failing, the more especially since now Petraeus that man with the gift of blarney which would make a Madison Avenue man proud, is saying that Herr Bush has to put a hold on troop withdrawl [sic] and shift the grunts to the failing and much neglected war in Afghanistan. Thank you very much Herr Bush for another botched job. And there's the rub in McCain attempt to revamp the party. Disowing the legacy of Herr Bush, having the alleged crook Tom Delay at the convention as a lobbyist and milking big bucks from eager cows for himself and McCain...and then there's the crossdresser Giuliani who clawed himself into the elite he so affectedly dispised, and the mad Mitt Romney who castigates the rich although he grew up in wealth and as a Bain man cannibalised American corporations he bought and sent workers out to years of unemployment and poverty. That's the image McCain is trying to hide and for that he needs the pit bull he found in Palin who will gnarl, gnaw, and go for the jugular. But the economic conditions are such only the most committed to small values will support the wine & cheese closeted elite who are saying they're of the working class. A big Bronx cheer to that!
