Obama the Muslim?

As Barak Obama inches closer to becoming the Democratic Party's candidate to the Oval Office, the political landscape is cleared for a dirty war against him. It is clear as the nose on one's face, he's being tarred with the brush of anti Muslim slurs. Obama's father was Muslim, but his son isn't. He's Christian. The gutter press like to spell out his full name Barak Hussein Obama...well, Christian Arabs are also called Hussein, they don't know. It cannot stoop to the colour of his skin, but it surely will piss on his mother who is white; her reputation will be dragged through the mud as having hots for non whites, of being a hippie...and you can fill in the dots thank you very much. It will make much of the junior senator from Illinois' photo of him wearing a turban and Somali costume. For these small minds, please look on page 2 of the 2 March 2008 'The Week in Review' pullout of the 'New York Times' to see US presidents in all sorts of foreign dress...from Coolidge wearing an American full headdress to George Bush looking very like Alfred E. Newman in Chilean garb not to speak of wearing Vietnamese dress...
Let's face it, no matter what 18Brumaire says, the gutter snipers will go in for the kill, nothing will deter them but public shame and denunciation and pursuit in the courts for racialist behaviour and character assassination. Obama ain't an easy target, for attacking him will bring up a wave of revulsion against an overzealous press with their shirt tails hanging out; against the transparency and the crudeness of their remarks and the amateur way of blackening Obama's reputation.
For all his faults, Obama is a breath of fresh air in the haletosis filled environment in Washington; he offers hope and a new direction to the sorry state of America affairs today; he is the foil of Herr Bush's incompetence, mendacity, and croneyism...he arouses a youthful spirit which the US has not seen since the election of JFK.
Saying this doesn't take away from the dirty tricks and lies of those that will try by hook and by crook to defeat him. Let's hope they shall meet their Waterloo in him, and fail miserably as they should!
