Marx in 'The 18 Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte' wrote: 'Men make their own history, but they do not make it just to please; they do not make it under circumstances directly encountered, given, and transmitted from the past'. Thus the blog '18brumaire' hopes to bring awareness of how much the past weigh on the present, and to bring its mark on what is happening now. Man's history is like the brand of Cain...it is there but hardly anyone recognises it. And as the Abrahamic tradition reminds us: You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free!' Other believe that man proposes, but God disposses; others with a finer bitter sweet sense of humour say, 'man thinks, God laughs'. 18brumaire does not.
